Strange Facebook Friend Request

Is it just me, or are there weird people that don't even know you, but are requesting to be your friend on Facebook? How do these people find you? I've been receiving strange requests ever since I split ways with my ex. I don't know if these are phony accounts so that she can try to keep tabs on me, but it is strange. I don't know who this person is whatsoever; yet, she sends me a random "Friend Request"

I can understand if there was a mutual friend, but there isn't even a mutual friend between me and this chick. Then she's all hugged up with her black boyfriend. Creepy.
