28 & Single

andRe Christos Helios

I've been single for six months. It has its pros and cons. Until I find a woman with character, personality, and virtue, I will remain single. No longer will I settle for low-class femmes with no self-respect, self-esteem, or any sense of honor, dignity and justice.

New Pope: Francis (Jorge Mario Bergoglia)

New Pope Francis (Jorge Mario Bergoglia of Argentina)
There was much talk of the Church electing another African pontiff. I didn't think the Church would elect an African pope in this era because it would stir a racial uproar-what would Italian and Latin Catholics look like adulating an African pope?

So if you thought that there was going to be a Black President simultaneously with a Black Pope, you was greatly mistaken. Although the idea has a nice ring to it, that is just way too much aggravation for the European world. It's one thing to have a nigger in charge of a country, but to have a nigger be the equivalent of Christ on earth is one  thing whites are not having!

So . . . Roman Catholics' newly-appointed Pontiff is not a nigger, or white, but in between. He's from South America and the Latin community are having fiestas as I type-just don't call him Jorge. His papal name is Francis. Why? You'll never know with the Catholics.

I will say this: I'm glad the new pope isn't an African; the theories associated with it was too overwhelming. Interestingly, he was  the head of the Church's Jesuit order.

Hooters, Downtown Atlanta

Hooters on Urbanspoon

Hooters of Downtown Atlanta has it all: flats screens, nice wings, and beauty queens. Moreover, if you're a smoker, you can enjoy the luxury of your Malboro or Newports, without being told to "put it out". Hooters of Downtown Atlanta offers an ideal patio, where you can eat, drink, and smoke your cancer sticks comfortably.

As a bachelor, an NFL and on occasion, NBA sports writer for Rant Sports, Hooters has become a place of refuge for me. Where else can a man enjoy work and pleasure simultaneously?

Leaving Deltona, Florida and an unsuccessful relationship behind, I arrived in Atlanta on September 14, 2012. By November, I made Hooters of Downtown Atlanta my second home.

The host-sometimes a hostess-is always professional and accommodating. The bartenders and waitresses are always amorous and amiable. For me, the excessive "honey" endearment is somewhat annoying. Other than that, Hooters on Peachtree St. is heaven!

I've been privileged to enjoy football and basketball at the same time, on more than one screen. In addition, their Wednesday Wingsday platter is the right price on the perfect night: 10 boneless wings and fries for $6.99. Then there is the Legendary Margarita, which is $5 every day, anytime. The chocolate cake isn't bad, either. Most importantly, I've been blessed to know a nice and hard-working waitress.

Although I am a man that is easy to please, I have no complaints about the service; I frequent Hooters 2-3 times a week. I can watch a game, take notes, have a drink, enjoy some wings, and actually have a pleasant dialogue with a pretty woman that isn't nagging me-sounds like paradise to me!

If you live in Atlanta or if you plan on visiting Atlanta, enjoy the experience of Hooters of Downtown Atlanta. Sure, there are other sports establishments that offer its patrons beer and flat screens, but nothing compares to Hooters' flat screens, nice wings, and beauty queens.

Companies that HIRE FELONS

Yes, that is right! There are companies that hire felons! Although there is a stigma that companies won't hire ex-convicts, that has now become something of the past. Companies are now benefiting from hire felons. Some companies are now given a tax write-off if they hire a convicted felon.

The politics of it all? "This person needs a job and we are ensure you this person won't mess up! In return, we'll give you a tax write-off." So if you're a felon and looking for job,  I implore that you try some of these companies; you just might have more success in your job search. There is still hope for you. Do not give up.

Companies that HIRE Felons; Jobs for Felons
Oh, www.xamire.com is a site that lists job opportunities for convicted felons and what restrictions there are for certain felony convictions. Good luck!

The Too Friendly Coworker . . .

I don't date coworkers. If you're in a relationship with a coworker, that's fine. What works for you, might not work for me. I've been in a romantic relationship with someone and employed at the same company. Not the greatest experience; arguments and fights at the job with everyone knowing our personal business. More importantly, it's one thing to wake up with a person, but to actually see the same person at work-that's a lil' bit too much of in-your-face-day-and-night for me.

Nevertheless, office romance is bound to happen. You're in the same atmosphere for close to forty hours a week-an attraction is bound to develop. There might be someone that you like. Then there might be someone that likes you. All of that is fine, given the case that  the two of you actually like each other amorously and agree to exchange numbers and pursue a relationship.

But what about the coworker that is excessively friendly? The coworker that likes you, but you don't like that coworker (i.e., amorously)? The coworker that calls you or texts you, but you never gave that person your number? The coworker that sends you endless e-mails striking up personal conversation, rather than professional? The coworker that wants to treat you to lunch? Or wants to hang out on the weekend?

In any event, there isn't anything wrong being coworkers. Moreover, there is nothing sinister with actually being an amiable coworker; I would rather like someone that I work with than despise that person. But there must be boundaries! Some things are borderline sexual harassment and stalking. What do you do when a person crosses that boundary?

Immediately, do not entertain the unwanted flirting, texts, or phone calls. Make it explicitly clear that you feel uncomfortable and if it is not job-related, there is no reason for outside-of-work communication. Be stern and straightforward. If the unwanted advances or communication continue, then perhaps it's time to speak with Human Resources.

Don't allow your too friendly coworker to make your work environment uncomfortable. More importantly, when you're in your personal space at home, this too friendly coworker should not be an annoyance. Nip it sooner than later; it could lead to a fatal attraction.
